Empty Meetings

Meetings get scheduled.

Sometimes on short notice.

Sometimes buried in a flyer no one sees.

Sometimes announced in a way that makes it easy to miss.

That's not communication. That's setting people up to miss it.

So what happens?

Low turnout.

Empty chairs.

And a small group making decisions for everyone else.

Then later, members hear: "You should've been there."

But let's be real —

how can people show up to something they were never properly told about?

This isn't about members not caring.

It's about poor communication leading to low participation.

And when turnout is low, it's easier to control outcomes.

If leadership really wanted full participation, they would make sure everyone actually knows.

Because effective communication isn't optional — it's the foundation of real representation.
